Public forum this weekend
HOMELESSNESS, emergency food relief and regional planning will be among several issues on the agenda at a public forum in Warrnambool this weekend.
The forum, to be held at the Warrnambool Bowls Club this Sunday (November 17), will see a number of guest speakers address a variety of issues.
The roll out of alternative energy projects in south west Victoria, and the importance of planning for employment continuity, will be discussed by Carl Millard from the South West Trades and Labour Council.
Regional planning issues will be the topic of discussion led by Victorian Minister for Regional Development and Planning Gayle Tierney and Minister for Planning and Suburbs, Sonia Kilkenny.
Discussions will also centre on regional indigenous priorities relating to the relationship between indigenous identity and habitat/wildlife stewardship.
This discussion will be led by Ms Yaraan Bundle Couzens, a prominent Gunditjmara advocate.
The final session of the day will centre around issues related to homelessness and emergency food provisions across the region.
Guest speakers will include Amanda Hennessy from Western District Foodshare, and Brophy Family and Youth Services.
The public forum will run from 10am until 4pm, with light refreshments provided.
