Twenty-seven year old Relph, who calls Warrnambool home, finished third at last Sunday’s FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship event in Italy.

Tackling the Cremona Circuit on the weekend, a determined Relph showed great resilience and patience as she made her way through the field from ninth.

Relph told journalists she was “speechless” following her podium finish.

“I made a horrible start and was down in ninth, I think, going into turn one but I knew I had good pace and I pushed hard, moving up to fifth before a crash in front,” she said.

“When I crossed the line I still didn’t know that I had a podium but when I saw my fiancé cheering I then realised where I’d finished.”

Relph reportedly said she knew it would be tough going to the championship and competing against world-class athletes, but was thrilled to have finished top three.

“I knew I could be strong here at Cremona and we did it! I have great people around me so a big thankyou to everyone who supports me.”

The World WCR season continues on October 13 at Estoril before the season finale at Jerez the following weekend.
