The association is excited to launch a new 16 and under boys only, short season (10 weeks including a grand final) in term four.

Association administrator Marg Morgan believes the new competition will provide an outlet for boys to learn more about player pathway development and the opportunities available for programs such as the 2027 association championships and state netball titles.

“There are opportunities for talented boys to enter the Netball Victoria player pathway, which can lead to representative netball at various levels,” Marg said.

“Boys and men have the same development pathway as girls and ladies which is exciting.

“Next term’s short season competition will open up to boys’ 17 and under in 2027 for the chance to trial for representative team selection for Western Region Netball – which will be played in Bendigo during the long weekend in March.

“The state netball titles attract players from various regions across Victoria.”

For next term’s competition, the Warrnambool association is inviting school teams, clubs and individual team entries (and individual players).

All games will be held on the outdoor courts and will comprise four, 10-minute quarters, starting at 5pm each week.

The first round will begin on Wednesday, October 7 and the grand final will be played on Wednesday, December 9.

A short-season Netball Victoria membership must be paid online ($15 per player) along with a $10 game payment at the stadium each week.

All players will be required to register on Netball Connect to be eligible to trial.

“We’re really looking forward to seeing boys in the new 16 and under competition here in Warrnambool next term,” Marg said.
